| Location |
Vale da Telha is a growing but small development about 3 miles from the Moorish town of Aljezur, with its castle ruins. The entire vicinity is a conservation area known as Costa Vicentina which is a nature reserve with wild boar, eagles, ospreys, buzzards, peregrine falcon and the fantastic bea-eater.
The nearest mini-market is 5 minute walk away and apart from stocking most essentials has a small take away menu, home made in the traditional sense of the word by the owner’s wife (but take your phrase book!). There is another mini-market about 10 mins away near a bar that is fantastic for watching the sunset.
Locally we have a a bar/take-away fondly known as 'The Chicken Shack'. Owned by a local builder, the bar is very rustic and offers local beers, wines and spirits as well as meals and snacks including Chicken, Ribs, Burgers and local fare such as Rabbit Stew. Available to eat in or outside the bar or as a take-away. The owner speaks reasonable English but expect a wait as everything is cooked freshly. At the pines roundabout just up the road is a Bar/Restaurant Karisma. The menu whilst small offers well cooked food and snacks and is run by Antonio who speaks perfect English. The bar is one of the focal points of the area where much of the community meets. A cyber service is also available here. Across the other side of the roundabout is the Restaurant Fonte do Vale, which offers a wide variety of food and drinks and again the owner speaks very good English. We also recommend O'Ze's at the Monte Clerigo Beach. Try the Crab special or their selection of freshly caught Fish. |

| About the Property |
There is a large living room which is tastefully furnished and has a log burning fire, TV & DVD with freeview Satellite offering all ITV and BBC stations. The first floor mezzanine which has access to a large sun terrace with breathtaking views across the Sea is furnished with relaxing wicker style sofas and has panoramic views of the coast. There are two exercise machines on this floor although if the sun is shining we would recommend a walk outside instead, which will allow you to soak up the local scenery. The windows are fitted with mosquito blinds and the dining room has an electronic flying insect killer.
Next to the living room is a dining room with table and chairs for six, double patio doors that give access to the garden and pool area. The spacious kitchen is equipped with modern equipment including all crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, gas hob & fan oven, American Style Fridge/Freezer, Washing Machine, Dish washer and spin dryer (not that you will need it during the summer!).
The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious and connected to the lounge via a hallway. The first bedroom is a twin and has access via French windows to the pool area. Both double rooms have en-suite, one with access to the pool area, both have windows with sea views. The main bathroom is also off the hallway. |

| Additional Information |
There are three local beaches, Monte Clérigo and Arrifana which are each about 2 miles away (recently awarded Blue Flag status) and famous for Surfing, offering waterspors and excellent swimming opportunities with long sandy beaches. A little further away is the quiet beach of Amoreira. The beaches have snack bars and tavernas close by. There are opportunities for excursions to other more remote beaches including Vale Figueira, Bordeira and Amado - all to the South and within a short drive.
Closer local facilities include tennis and horse riding about 1 mile or so away.
In Aljezur, 10 minutes by car, are several restaurants including, ‘Ruth’, ‘Ivo’ and 'Ponte Pe' offering traditional Portuguese fare including Fresh Fish dishes - try their dish of the day! Aljezur has a small market open each morning and a Tourist Information Office. There are several small supermarkets in Aljezur as well as a Spar, a Post Office, chemist and banks as well as a few handicraft and souvenir shops and at least two Surf shops where it is possible to hire a board & book lessons..
Lagos with its wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and discotheques is about 30 minutes by car. |
